Jugantor is a widely read Bengali newspaper in rural areas of Bangladesh. Jamuna Group owns it. Jamuna Group Limited handles printing and publishing and Jamuna Media Ltd conducts administrative activities of this newspaper. The newspaper's present editor is Saiful Alam. And, the publisher of this national daily is Salma Islam. You can find the paper either online or in print.

Jugantar is involved in a variety of social activities in addition to providing news. The Pathak group organizes a variety of projects, including climate change and anti-drug campaigns. Aside from that, they organize various contemporary activities, such as freedom fighters' reception, children's sketching competitions, and book festivals.

History

Jagantor started its journey in 1999, under the editorship of famous journalist Golam Sarwar. Jugantar has bravely reported on national events with a fearless motto “in quest of the truth”. This is why this newspaper has to confront a variety of obstacles. The authorities and journalists faced many threats and litigation in their journey

Content

This publication offers both print and online versions. The paper is printed in broadsheet format. It includes eight columns and twenty pages regularly. This newspaper covers news in several categories. They are Khabor (News), Banglar Mukh (The Face of Bengal), Kheladhula (Sports), Shompadokiyo (Editorial), Tutorial, Dosh Digonto (Ten Horizons), etc. The newspaper is liberal in its content.

Golam Sarwar: Golam Sarwar was the founding editor of the Daily Jugantor. He was a well-known Bangladeshi columnist and journalist. His career as a journalist began in 1963 with Dainik Paygam. Following that, he worked for prominent dailies such as Dainik Ittefaq, Dainik Sangbad, Dainik Jugantar, and Dainik Samakal. Golam Sarwar got ‘Ekushe Padak’ in 2015.

A. B. M. Musa: A. B. M. Musa worked as the editor of the Daily Jugantor from 2004-2005. Musa worked as a journalist for BBC and Sunday Times during Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971. He was a founding member of the Jatiya Press Club. He became the Director General of BTV in 1971. From May 1985 until March 1987, Musa was the managing director and chief editor of BSS, Bangladesh's official news agency. The Government of Bangladesh awarded him the Ekushey Padak for journalism in 1999. He later joined as the editor of Daily Jugantor.

Abed Khan: Abed Khan is a Bangladeshi columnist and journalist. From 2005 to 2006, Khan was the editor of the daily Jugantor. He was also the editor of the daily Samakal. After getting sponsorship from Bangladeshi business giant Bashundhara Group, Abed Khan established and worked as the editor of Kaler Kantho.

Salma Islam: Salma Islam is a Bangladeshi journalist, lawyer, and MP. She worked as an editor for the Daily Jugantor. Now, she is the publisher of this national daily.

Saiful Alam: Saiful Alam is the present editor of the Daily Jugantor. He started his career as a journalist in 1979 with the Kishore Bangla. He worked for Daily Janata and Inqilab as a senior reporter for several years. When Jugantor started its publication, he joined as a senior reporter of this newspaper. He worked as an acting editor of this publication from 2013 to 2020. Since 2020, he has been serving as the editor of this national daily.
